Samantha Stephens

Paediatric Physiotherapist

Samantha studied Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney, Cumberland College of Health Sciences and graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy). She completed her first years of work at Camperdown Children’s Hospital and Westmead Children’s Hospital. She also worked in paediatrics at Liverpool Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney as an early career physiotherapist before gaining a senior position in paediatrics at Wollongong Hospital in 1998. In 2001, she completed a Master of Health Science (Paediatric Physiotherapy) at Sydney University.

For the last 25 years, Samantha has worked as a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist in Paediatrics for the Illawarra Local Health District, learning from and working with hundreds of beautiful children and their families. Samantha also worked for 10 years at the University of Wollongong for Bachelor of Early Childhood Education undergraduate students where she lectured and tutored in her area of special interest, the motor development of babies and toddlers. She has also enjoyed training, supervising and mentoring many physiotherapists and physiotherapy students over these years. In 2019, Samantha was awarded the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) Paediatric Physiotherapist Title which is a formal recognition of advanced knowledge and skills in the area of paediatric physiotherapy.

When not at work, Samantha enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 children, family and friends, bushwalking, bike riding, reading and walking her golden retriever puppy.
