What to bring to your initial appointment with a Paediatrician
A valid GP referral for your child (Please see your GP for a referral. After they have completed the referral they can send it directly to Seaside Paediatrics via electronic transfer or fax. Once your referral has been sent through, please call our receptionist on Ph: (02) 4210 9177 to book your appointment).
If your child has a favourite toy or activity that they would like to bring along, that would be very welcome.
If you have taken pictures or videos of your child that you think may be helpful to the consultation, please bring them along.
If your child has recently been admitted to hospital, please bring a copy of your hospital discharge summary.
Please bring along any reports, questionnaires, consent forms or other documentation that you have not had a chance to send in prior to your appointment.
If you have any other relevant reports or medical letters, please feel free to bring them along to your appointment.
Preparing for your appointment
If your appointment is for a review of your child’s learning, development or social skills, you will have received a questionnaire to fill out prior to your appointment. Please send that back at least a week before your scheduled appointment.
If your child has had assessments by medical specialists, allied health professionals or school guidance officers, it is helpful to send these documents in at least a week before your scheduled appointment.
Who should come to your child’s appointment?
Your child should come with their primary carer, which may be you, or another member of your family.
It is preferable that your child attends without their siblings or friends if possible, in order to maintain focus on their needs.
COVID safe practice
Seaside Paediatrics will continue to follow the advice of NSW Health during any changes related to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Appointment attendees should be limited to your child and primary carers.
Please do not attend the appointment in person if:
You or your child has symptoms of fever or respiratory illness
You or your child has had close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19
You have been to COVID-19 exposure site, or have been in contact with a close or casual contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
We are happy to arrange a telehealth appointment if you prefer, or if you cannot attend the appointment in person due to the above reasons. Please call at least 24hrs prior to the appointment to discuss this option.

How long does an appointment take?
A new appointment will take 60 minutes.
Follow up appointments are 30 minutes long.
Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Yes, we offer Telehealth appointments via video conference. Please chat with our receptionist for more details.
When do I pay for my appointment?
Payment is taken at the time of the appointment. If your appointment is eligible for a medicare rebate, claims will be sent to medicare on completion of your appointment.
